Claude Cowork, Explained in Plain English: Your AI Helper on Mac

Claude Cowork lets you assign multi-step tasks to Claude from the macOS Desktop app—organize files, summarize research, build real Excel spreadsheets or slide decks, and save results back to your computer. It runs in an isolated virtual workspace on your machine, shows progress, and lets you review or steer the plan as it runs.

It’s available on paid plans, needs the Desktop app open and an internet connection, and requires explicit folder permissions. Start with low-risk chores (photo renames, folder cleanup, note summaries), limit access to sensitive data, and watch usage and sleep/close rules for long jobs.
